Consumer Market Research Report

A consumer market survey was conducted during summer/fall 2010 in order to gain critical insights into how and why Wisconsinites use high-speed Internet. The results also reveal what needs may exist within each region. This quantitative study will be used by regional planning teams to better understand Internet use and needs across their areas.

Interactive Broadband Awareness Tool

To help the participants in the LinkWISCONSIN project understand what broadband is and how it can make a difference, a series of awareness videos were created from some initial research. These videos explain how broadband can be applied in a variety of ways to improve life for Wisconsin's residents. There are a total of eight videos. The first is an introduction, and the remaining seven are topic specific (e.g., Public Safety, Education, Healthcare, etc).

Read tips on using the interactive tool.

Regional planning teams are multi-sector groups from each region who will provide input into development of regional broadband investment plans. They will:

  • Provide coordination with on-going existing broadband planning initiatives in each region.
  • Contribute information about the counties, communities, demographics, economy and broadband needs of the area.
  • Provide feedback on accuracy of current broadband maps and other regional data.
  • Identify areas and sectors in the region that could benefit from increased broadband access and adoption.
  • Determine priorities around which the region’s initial broadband investment plan should focus to have the greatest impact for the region.
  • Help identify data, resources and leadership needed to implement the chosen priority investment.
  • Provide guidance to the LinkWISCONSIN staff in drafting regional broadband investment plans.
